Mental Health Service

Convenient appointments – instant booking

Counsellors, Therapists, Psychologists & Psychiatrists

COVID 19 UPDATE: Many of our practitioners offer online video sessions, so you can begin your treatment now, and complete them face-to-face when the lockdown ends.

What is MHS?

Mental Health Service UK is a free, nationwide, patient booking service for people with mental health issues.

We match up patients with local professionals who have availability to see new patients within a few days

Choosing Psychiatrist, Psychologist or Counsellor?

For many issues, it often depends on how close they are, their availability, and their price. But for more serious conditions, including schizophrenia, self-harm, and severe depression, you should learn more about which therapists are trained for which conditions.

Rule of thumb: for conditions that need medication (pills) you need a psychiatrist, for severe or long-term issues you want a psychologist, and for milder or emotional issues you may prefer a psychotherapist or counsellor.

How the service works

1. Click the ‘book appointment‘ button to get started. You can stop any time.

2. Enter your postcode, and tell us how far you can travel.

3. We show you a selection of slots available over the next few days.

4. Choose the appointment that suits you.

5. We take a deposit by credit or debit card, to confirm your appointment. You pay the remainder of the cost to the practitioner after your first session.

6. After your first session, you can arrange any subsequent sessions you need with your therapist.

7. If you need to cancel or rearrange, contact your therapist using the number in your confirmation email, and they will be able to refund or rearrange.

Mental Health Service UK (MHS) is not part of the National Health Service (NHS) and we are not affiliated with it either. MHS is an independent organisation, designed by a psychologist, dedicated to bringing a free, convenient booking service to patients across the whole UK.

NHS mental health services are not currently integrated with this system, although we are working to include them, and our goal is to make MHS into a one-stop solution for booking into the NHS mental health services or, for those who want a private appointment, listing their local private providers.

Patients who cannot or do not want to pay for mental health services are recommended to start by accessing NHS mental health services via their GP, and only return here if they want more rapid or an alternative service.
